Royal Philips has unveiled a significant advancement in medical imaging technology with the launch of its next-generation, web-based diagnostic viewer. This innovation promises to transform how radiologists access and interpret medical images, offering greater flexibility and efficiency.
A New Era for Radiology Workflows
Announced on November 24, 2025, the new Philips Image Management 15 platform includes a zero-footprint, web diagnostic viewer that delivers the full power of a desktop workstation through a standard web browser. This system is designed to address persistent challenges in healthcare, such as lost clinical time due to slow performance and the complexity of remote reading.
The viewer features a brand-new user interface and leverages high-performance server-side rendering to ensure seamless operation, even with large, complex datasets like digital breast tomosynthesis or cardiac CT scans. This allows radiologists to work effectively whether they are on-site, elsewhere within the healthcare enterprise, or working remotely.
Enhanced Collaboration and Integrated AI
A key feature of the new platform is its ability to interface with connected AI tools, bringing all relevant patient information into a single, centralized location. This integration supports faster and more informed diagnoses by providing radiologists with a comprehensive view of patient data.
The system is natively connected to an interactive reporting module, which manages reporting directly within the PACS workflow. This eliminates the need for separate dictation or reporting systems, enabling radiologists to review images and generate comprehensive reports without ever leaving their primary reading application.
Pieter Hoste, Chief Radiologist and Head of Medical Imaging at AZ West Hospital in Belgium, was among the first to test the new viewer. He confirmed its performance, stating, "It loads studies quickly and runs smoothly, even with large datasets. The new interface is intuitive and lets us focus entirely on the images."
Cloud-Enabled for Scalability and Security
Built for flexible deployment, the viewer is cloud-enabled through Philips HealthSuite, powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Healthcare providers also have the option of an on-premises deployment, allowing organizations to preserve current infrastructure investments and transition to the cloud at their own pace.
This cloud-based approach not only enhances scalability and accessibility but also simplifies IT deployment and management across the healthcare enterprise.
