Trump Says Medical Checkup Went 'Perfectly' After Exam

U.S. President Donald Trump underwent a physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday, later declaring that the checkup went "perfectly" without providing further specifics.

Routine Annual Assessment

The visit lasted three-and-a-half hours at the Bethesda, Maryland, military medical center. It was Trump's fourth publicly disclosed checkup since assuming office last year. The White House had announced the "routine annual dental and medical assessment" two weeks prior, describing it as part of his regular preventive health care.

In a social media post, Trump stated: "Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff!"

Health Concerns and Reactions

Trump, who will turn 80 next month, has faced scrutiny over his health after recent public appearances showed swollen ankles and legs, as well as bruised hands. The White House previously attributed the bruising to frequent handshaking and aspirin use.

A White House official informed reporters that further details regarding the visit could be expected "in the next day or so," according to ABC News.

Trump's last physical was in April 2025, when his physician, U.S. Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, concluded that he was in "excellent health" and "fully fit" to serve as president.

Political Context

Earlier this month, ahead of Trump's visit to Beijing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claimed that the president's health was deteriorating. "He is unwell. And getting worse by the day," Schumer wrote on X.

In response, White House spokesman Davis Ingle said: "President Trump's sharpness, unmatched energy, and historic accessibility stand in stark contrast to what we saw during the past four years when Democrats like Schumer intentionally covered up Joe Biden's serious mental and physical decline from the American people."
