New Canadian Pediatric Device Runs 9 Medical Assessments

A new Canadian pediatric diagnostic device, the Kix360° Vitals N9+, has been launched to help parents conduct nine common medical assessments on their children at home. The device aims to reduce unnecessary emergency room visits and provide early detection of common pediatric conditions.

Device Capabilities and Features

The Kix360° Vitals N9+ can assess conditions including ear infections, strep throat, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, temperature, heart rate, and more. It uses a combination of sensors and a smartphone app to guide parents through the assessments and provide results in real time.

According to the company, the device is designed for children aged 0 to 12 years. It includes a digital otoscope, a pulse oximeter, and a thermometer, among other tools. The app stores health data over time, allowing parents to track their child's health trends and share reports with healthcare providers.

Impact on Pediatric Healthcare

Dr. Sarah Jenkins, a pediatrician at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, said: “This device empowers parents to make informed decisions about their child's health. It can help differentiate between a viral infection and a bacterial one, potentially reducing unnecessary antibiotic use.”

The device has been tested in a clinical study involving 500 children, where it demonstrated 95% accuracy in detecting ear infections compared to standard diagnostic methods. The company plans to launch the device across Canada and expand to international markets by 2027.

Availability and Pricing

The Kix360° Vitals N9+ is available for pre-order at a price of CAD 299. It includes a one-year subscription to the companion app, which provides personalized health insights and telemedicine consultation options.
