Details of the Incident
The technician suffered fatal crushing injuries to his lower limbs while working with a lifting system. According to the Brazil state fire brigade, he was removed from the equipment by fellow employees before emergency personnel arrived. Despite immediate care at the scene and transport to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, he was pronounced dead.
Witness Antonio Marcos Ferreira dos Santos told France24 that the technician was trapped underneath a structure that fell to the ground. He described seeing people running as others worked to pull the man free.
