Calgary Family Embarks on Second Ride of Courage to Support Kids Cancer Care
For the Heidt family, one ride was not enough. After participating in the Kids Cancer Care Ride of Courage for the first time, they are gearing up for their second journey, determined to make an even greater impact. The event, which supports children battling cancer and their families, has become a deeply personal mission for the Heidts.
Lori Heidt, the mother of the family, shared that the experience of the first ride was transformative. “We saw firsthand how the funds raised directly help families, providing not just medical support but also emotional and financial assistance,” she said. The Ride of Courage is a motorcycle event that brings together riders from across Calgary and beyond, all united by a common goal: to give hope to kids facing cancer.
From Participants to Advocates
The Heidts initially joined the ride as participants, but they quickly became advocates for the cause. Their involvement has inspired friends and community members to donate and join the cause. “It’s amazing to see how a single event can ripple out and create such a wave of support,” Lori added.
The second ride is set to take place in Calgary, with the Heidts already planning their route and fundraising activities. They aim to surpass their previous fundraising total and encourage others to participate or contribute. “Every dollar counts, and every rider makes a difference,” said Lori.
