Turkish OnlyFans Stars Face 10 Years in Prison Over Obscenity Charges
Turkish OnlyFans Stars Face Decade in Prison for Obscenity

Turkish OnlyFans star Burcin Erol faces up to 10 years in prison as the country intensifies its crackdown on adult content creators. The Islamic Eurasian nation has arrested 27 individuals who continued using the platform, which was banned in 2023 over alleged obscene content.

Arrests and Investigation

The case, heard in Istanbul, stems from a wide-ranging cybercrime probe launched months ago. Prosecutors allege the accused made significant profits by sharing explicit content on OnlyFans and other subscription-based platforms. Among those under fire are models Gizem Bagdacicek, Merve Taskin, and Burcin Erol.

Turkey blocked OnlyFans in 2023, but morality police say users still accessed the content by scrambling their IP addresses. The investigation was triggered by financial motives, according to the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor's Office, as some influencers continued earning large sums despite the ban.

Seized Assets and Indictment

State agents scoured bank accounts, money transfers, and company records linked to the 27 models. Authorities detained 17 models, with detention orders issued for 25 in total. Some were outside Turkey during the raids, while others were already in custody for different investigations.

Officials seized cash, vehicles, properties, and company accounts worth millions, including nearly $10 million in cash. The indictment seeks prison sentences of up to 10 years for each defendant, who are expected to appear in court after the indictment was accepted.

Cultural War Context

Turkey is locked in a bitter cultural war between the conservative political establishment and more liberal elements. While Istanbul remains a freewheeling Western city, eastern and central regions are more conservative and religious. Porn has become a ticking time bomb in this battle.

Parallel Case in Washington

The Turkish crackdown follows arrests in Bellevue, Washington, at the so-called "OnlyFans House." Police say young women were kept prisoner and forced to stream explicit content 12 hours a day. The human trafficking probe began with noise complaints.

Nikita Tyukalo, 22, is charged with human trafficking, with more charges expected. One alleged victim said she was 17 in April 2024 when Tyukalo contacted her, promising financial help. The women claim they were ripped off for hundreds of thousands of dollars.
