A routine traffic stop in Kitchener has resulted in the arrest of a Mapleton man on suspicion of methamphetamine possession, according to Waterloo Regional Police.
Details of the traffic stop
The incident occurred on July 8, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m. when officers stopped a vehicle in the area of Fischer-Hallman Road and Bleams Road. During the stop, police allegedly observed signs of drug impairment and conducted a search, leading to the discovery of a quantity of suspected methamphetamine.
The driver, a 34-year-old man from Mapleton, was taken into custody without incident. He faces charges of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession for the purpose of trafficking, as the amount seized was consistent with trafficking, police noted.
Impact and ongoing investigation
Waterloo Regional Police have not released the exact amount of methamphetamine seized but confirmed it is part of an ongoing investigation.
