A massive 1,000-kilogram elephant seal named Neil has taken over a Tasmanian town during his twice-yearly tour of beachside communities, delighting locals despite causing significant disruption.
The five-year-old blubbery giant hauled himself onto land after months of feeding at sea, blocking roads, crushing gardens, and intimidating pets in the small coastal town. Residents, however, have embraced the seal, affectionately calling him a "gentle giant."
