Showers, Thunderstorms to Start Week Before 30 C

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to start the week in Windsor, Ont., before temperatures climb toward 30 C, according to Environment Canada. The unsettled weather will bring periods of rain and the risk of thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday, with highs near 25 C.

Midweek Warm-Up

By Wednesday, skies will clear and temperatures will rise to near 28 C. Thursday and Friday are forecast to reach 29 C and 30 C respectively, with mostly sunny conditions. Humidity levels will increase, making it feel even warmer.

Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder said the pattern is typical for July. “We’re seeing a classic summer pattern where a cold front triggers storms, then we get a ridge of high pressure that brings heat,” he explained.

Rainfall amounts from the storms could range from 15 to 25 mm, with locally higher amounts possible in stronger thunderstorms. The risk of severe storms is low but not zero, as some cells could produce gusty winds and small hail.

The weekend is expected to be hot and humid, with highs near 30 C and a chance of afternoon thunderstorms returning by Sunday.
