Rock N' Gem Show Wraps Maritime Stone Showcase in Saint John
The annual New Brunswick Rock N' Gem Show concluded this weekend in Saint John, drawing collectors, hobbyists, and curious visitors from across the Maritimes. The event featured a dazzling display of rocks, minerals, and gemstones, with vendors offering everything from raw crystals to polished jewelry.
Organizers highlighted the educational aspect of the show, with exhibits explaining the geological history of the region. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about local mining heritage and even try their hand at identifying different types of stones.
The show, held at the Saint John Exhibition Grounds, also included interactive activities for children, such as fossil digging and gemstone panning. Many visitors left with unique souvenirs and a deeper appreciation for the natural treasures found in the Maritimes.
One vendor, a longtime participant, noted the growing interest in rockhounding as a hobby. "People are fascinated by the beauty and diversity of stones," she said. "It's a great way to connect with nature and history."
The event is expected to return next year, with plans to expand the exhibition space and include more international dealers.
