Environment Canada issued a special weather statement, noting that westerly winds reached speeds of 45 km/h with gusts up to 65 km/h at the airport. These winds were expected to gradually diminish throughout the day, with gusts forecasted to drop to 50 km/h in the afternoon and 40 km/h overnight. The agency also warned of lake-effect flurries from Lake Huron and Georgian Bay, which could cause brief periods of reduced visibility due to blowing snow, although significant snowfall accumulations were not anticipated.
