Provincial hazmat teams test emergency response in North Bay scenarios
Hazmat teams run emergency scenarios in North Bay

Hazardous materials response teams from across the province gathered in North Bay, Ont., to test their emergency response capabilities through two challenging scenarios at 22 Wing/Canadian Forces Base and the adjacent Jack Garland Airport. The exercises took place in early May 2026.

Preparedness for hazardous incidents

The provincial hazmat teams simulated real-world emergencies to ensure readiness for potential chemical, biological, or radiological incidents. Participants worked together to contain and neutralize simulated threats, demonstrating coordination and advanced techniques.

Collaboration and training

The scenarios required teams to respond to a simulated industrial accident and a transportation spill, testing decontamination procedures, communication protocols, and equipment handling. Officials emphasized the importance of regular drills to maintain high standards of public safety.
