In a case of a blaze that wouldn't quit, firefighters from Delaware and Mount Brydes battled a house fire – twice – in less than a day. The fire initially broke out on Wednesday evening, and crews managed to extinguish it. However, the fire reignited early Thursday morning, prompting a second response from fire departments.
Details of the Incident
The first alarm was raised around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived to find a single-family home engulfed in flames. After a strenuous effort, they brought the fire under control and declared the scene safe. But just hours later, at approximately 4 a.m. Thursday, neighbors reported seeing smoke and flames again. Fire crews returned to find the fire had rekindled, spreading to the attic and roof.
Response and Aftermath
Mutual aid was called in from surrounding areas. No injuries were reported, but the home sustained extensive damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Officials remind residents to ensure fires are fully extinguished and to monitor hot spots after a fire event.
