The City of Edmonton has announced the addition of new temporary water stations to provide respite during the summer heat. The stations, which began operating on June 11, 2026, aim to help residents stay hydrated and cool as temperatures rise.
According to a city spokesperson, the water stations are strategically placed in high-traffic areas and neighborhoods with limited access to public cooling facilities. Each station is equipped with potable water dispensers and shaded seating areas.
“We understand that extreme heat can be dangerous, especially for vulnerable populations,” said the spokesperson. “These stations are part of our commitment to ensuring everyone has access to water and a cool place to rest.”
The initiative follows a series of heat warnings issued by Environment Canada, with temperatures expected to exceed 30 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Residents are encouraged to use the stations and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
