Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hansen, a crew member of the upcoming Artemis II mission, said he was taken aback by the level of support he has received from Canadians. Speaking to a full house at the Halifax Central Library on Wednesday night, Hansen shared his experiences and the significance of the mission.
Surprised by National Support
Hansen noted that the enthusiasm and encouragement from across Canada have been overwhelming. 'I didn't expect such a strong show of support,' he said. 'It's truly inspiring to see how much Canadians care about space exploration.'
Artemis II Mission Overview
Artemis II will be the first crewed mission to orbit the Moon since the Apollo era. Hansen, along with NASA astronauts, will test key systems and pave the way for future lunar landings. The mission is a collaborative effort between NASA and the Canadian Space Agency.
Hansen emphasized the importance of international cooperation in space exploration and highlighted Canada's role in the Artemis program. 'This is a giant leap for all of humanity, and Canada is proud to be part of it,' he added.
