Breakfast Television's Devo Brown Announces Departure, Citing New Opportunities

In a surprising announcement during Thursday morning's broadcast, Breakfast Television personality Devo Brown revealed he will be leaving the popular morning program on March 27, 2026. Brown, who serves as the show's entertainment correspondent, described the decision as deeply personal and the result of months of internal deliberation.

A Personal Choice to Avoid Regrets

"This is a day I didn't think would ever happen," Brown told viewers, calling the moment "completely surreal." He emphasized that his departure was entirely his own choice, stating, "This was my decision. One that's been a battle in my mind and my world for months." Brown explained he has reached a career juncture where he wants to seize new opportunities without looking back with "what ifs."

"You don't want regrets. That's for anybody," he continued. "There are opportunities I want to consider and explore both at home and the United States and across the world. Now is the time to do it." Brown expressed excitement about his future, adding, "I'm happy. I'm stoked about my next adventures. This is not a goodbye, it's a see you later."

A Storied Career in Broadcasting

Brown's broadcasting journey spans over two decades, beginning in radio where he worked for more than ten years, primarily at Flow 93.5 and KiSS 92.5 in Toronto. He has been with Rogers for over 15 years and joined Breakfast Television eight years ago. Reflecting on his time with the show, Brown praised his co-hosts, including Dina Pugliese and Tim Bolen, calling the experience "incredible."

"This team ... we've had quite the thrilling ride. I wouldn't be the person I am today without the support, the conversations, the laughs and the tears," he said. Brown hopes his decision inspires viewers to pursue their full potential, noting, "I'm that person that always looks to keep going forward. This is a dream job. It is. But what else can I do?"

Co-Hosts and Fans React with Emotion

Co-host Dina Pugliese, who returned to Breakfast Television last year, expressed heartfelt sentiments, comparing Brown's departure to her sister leaving for university. "It reminds me of when my sister went to Western for school. She wanted to go spread her wings but we didn't want her to leave because we loved her so much," Pugliese said. She commended Brown for his bravery in making the move on his own terms, adding, "You're not only such a huge star, you really have the biggest heart and that comes through every day."

Tim Bolen, who joined the show recently, described Brown as "the nicest, most down-to-earth, professional" colleague, highlighting their meaningful conversations both on and off air. On social media, fans shared their sadness, with one writing, "I'm going to miss your beautiful energy in the mornings!" Pugliese echoed this on Instagram, posting, "We are going to miss you every single day. You've been a true friend for a million reasons and in a million ways."

Ongoing Changes at Breakfast Television

Brown's exit marks the latest in a series of shifts for the morning show. In recent years, Breakfast Television has seen several on-air changes:

  • Kevin Frankish departed in 2018 after 27 years with Citytv.
  • Roger Petersen, his replacement, left by July 2020.
  • Sid Seixeiro joined in 2021 and was later ousted in 2025 alongside Meredith Shaw.
  • Dina Pugliese returned in March 2025, co-anchoring with Bolen, Brown, and others.
  • Frank Ferragine retired in May 2025, with Rick Campanelli joining shortly after.

Despite these transitions, Brown emphasized the strong connection with the audience, saying, "I will miss everybody. We have such an incredible viewer family. It really is that just everywhere we go." His departure signals a new chapter for both the veteran broadcaster and the evolving landscape of morning television in Toronto.
