Garner Reunites with Actor She Bit in Fight Scene on Show

In a recent interview, actress Jennifer Garner shared thrilling details about her return to action in the second season of Apple TV's thriller series, The Last Thing He Told Me. Garner, known for her roles in high-stakes dramas, expressed her love for on-screen combat, particularly when it involves a familiar adversary.

A Brutal Reunion on Set

Garner revealed that her scene partner for a kitchen brawl in the new season is actor Sala Baker, with whom she had a violent encounter nearly two decades ago. During the filming of the 2007 movie The Kingdom, under director Peter Berg's instruction to "try to kill" each other, Garner ended up biting a chunk out of Baker's ear in a chaotic fight. She described this as "the most brutal fight I had ever fought," emphasizing the lack of choreography that led to the real-life injury.

No Fear in the Face of Danger

When Garner learned she would be facing Baker again in The Last Thing He Told Me, she felt no apprehension. "I had no fear," she stated, recounting how Baker threw her around during the scene. Despite crew members urging caution, Garner insisted on going all out, telling them, "Just back out of the way. I have a score to settle here." Her co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau reacted with disbelief upon hearing the ear-biting anecdote, to which Garner joked, "Like Mike Tyson. Don't make me mad. I've warned you before."

Season 2 Plot and Garner's Enthusiasm

The series, based on Laura Dave's bestselling novels, follows Hannah (Garner) as she navigates mysteries tied to her husband's disappearance. Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger, with Hannah making a deal that separated her from Owen (Coster-Waldau). Garner actively encouraged Dave to write a sequel, often biking to her home to discuss the story. "I was really hoping for a Season 2 because I wanted to see what happened with Hannah and Owen and Bailey," Garner explained, praising the character's competence and integrity.

Season 2, inspired by Dave's book The First Time I Saw Him, picks up five years later with Owen reappearing, forcing Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey into a race against the Campano crime family. Garner highlighted the appeal of "competency porn," where audiences crave smart, capable characters like Hannah who can handle any crisis.
