Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures have released the official trailer for Dune: Part Three, the final chapter of Denis Villeneuve's epic saga. Alongside the trailer, the Abu Dhabi Film Commission (ADFC) shared behind-the-scenes images from filming in the Liwa Desert, which has served as the desert planet Arrakis throughout the trilogy.
Trailer and Plot Details
The trailer reveals the story set nearly two decades after Paul Atreides seized control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul faces the consequences of his reign as old allies return and new threats emerge. Haunted by visions of Imperial collapse and the reappearance of his long-lost love, Paul is drawn into a conspiracy with Chani at the heart of the mystery. The film promises a grand, intimate conclusion to the trilogy.
Abu Dhabi's Role in Production
Abu Dhabi's Liwa Desert has been integral to the visual identity of Arrakis across all three films. For Dune: Part Three, the 31-day shoot involved over 600 UAE-based individuals. According to Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, the production included six interns, 38 residents in crowd scenes, 206 local crew, and 336 contractors and drivers. “The opportunity to again work with the incredible cast and crew from Dune: Part Three as Abu Dhabi’s Liwa Desert stars as Arrakis for Denis Villeneuve’s culminating installment was really a poignant and pivotal moment for the entire creative ecosystem of Abu Dhabi,” Al Jaberi said.
Local Impact and Support
Herb Gains, EVP of Physical Production at Legendary Entertainment, praised the location and support: “Returning to Abu Dhabi’s Liwa Desert for Dune: Part Three was never in doubt. I can’t think of any place else in the world that provides such stunning imagery, as well as the support we’ve received from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission and our partners there across all three films.” The production was supported by the Creative Media Authority Abu Dhabi and Image Nation Abu Dhabi as production partner, with Epic Films as local production services provider. Abu Dhabi's cashback rebate program also contributed to the shoot.

Dune: Part Three is set for release on December 16, 2026, concluding Denis Villeneuve's acclaimed adaptation of Frank Herbert's novel.
