Texas Sisters Cookie and Kitty Diaz Charged in Stabbing Death of Mother of Five
Texas Sisters Smile After Arrest for Stabbing Mother of Five

Two scantily-clad Texas sisters were all smiles after they were arrested for allegedly hacking a mother-of-five to death. Cookie and Kitty Diaz, 19 and 21, were captured by a freelance videographer flashing their pearly whites and giggling in the wake of the macabre murder.

Daylight Attack in Del Rio

According to cops, the sisters were taken into custody by officers in Del Rio, Texas, a small town near the Mexican border. Detectives said the sinister siblings repeatedly stabbed Caroline “Caro” Peña, 32, to death in a brazen daylight attack. Kyandra Renee Faz, 21, was also charged with murder, KENS 5 reported. Cops say more charges are possible.

Police were called to the Val Verde Regional Medical Center around 2:10 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a woman suffering from numerous stab wounds. Peña was later flown to a hospital in San Antonio because of the severity of her injuries. She died later that night.

Shocking Video and Community Reaction

Shocking images and videos were later circulated online. Investigators say one shows the victim standing in a bloodstained pink shirt while facing three young women who had surrounded her. “This wasn’t something that happened in a back alley,” Zelina Ochoa, Peña’s childhood friend, told KENS 5. “This happened at the corner near Sonic on one of our busiest roads in broad daylight.”

She added: “Me and Caro, we go way, way back. We got to take our sons to school and we did the school thing together while we had our kids to school with us.” So far, police have not released a motive for the killing, but residents and social media users were shocked by the video footage taken outside the sisters’ home.

Arrest Footage Shows Sisters Grinning

Barefoot Kitty grinned at the ground as two cops put her in a patrol car. She was wearing tight black shorts and a halter top with an illustration of white hands cupping her breasts. Cookie’s attire was also barely there. She, too, flashed a smile, giggling before exploding at the cameraman to “Stop recording!”

Freelance Del Rio journalist Michael Elizondo told the New York Post that a friend tipped him off about the arrests. He said he started filming before realizing what the Diaz girls were being arrested for. “I didn’t know what was going on, but I knew it must be serious,” Elizondo said. “I saw the first girl going into the car, and I thought, ‘Whatever.’ … But the second one caught my eye. That girl was in a happy mood. … She was all smiling, goofing off like nothing happened.”

When Cookie was placed in the cruiser, Elizondo said he was shocked. “All of the sudden I see the window go down, and the girl was sticking out her face, sticking out her tongue and goofing off,” he said. The feral sisters run wild in Del Rio, Elizondo said. Earlier in the day, they had been spotted “driving recklessly.”

Charges and Social Media

The sisters and Faz were each charged with murder and transported to a local jail, according to the Del Rio Police Department. On Kitty’s social media, she boasts that she is the mother of a young son. She said on TikTok: “My son is about to be 4 years old and still a only child.”
