Iconic Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall to Relocate in 2027 Due to Aging Space
Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall to Move in 2027

The iconic Ranchman's Cookhouse & Dancehall, a beloved fixture along Macleod Trail in Calgary, is set to move to a new location in early 2027. This relocation is driven by the age of its current space, which has served as a hub for country music and community gatherings since 1972.

Final Year of Celebrations Planned

Wendy Daniel, the director of marketing for Ranchman's, announced that 2026 will be a milestone year for the establishment. "We're planning a full calendar of concerts, community celebrations, and special events to recognize what this building has meant to Calgary," she said. "We intend to send it off properly, with our stage active and our dance floor full." This final year will serve as a tribute to the venue's long-standing legacy in the city.

New Venue and Redevelopment Details

Ranchman's has signed a lease for a larger space nearby, although the exact location remains undisclosed. Once the move is complete, the current site will be redeveloped by the Deveraux Group of Companies and Lansdowne Equity Ventures into a mixed-use development.

Sameer Remtulla, vice-president of marketing at Deveraux, emphasized the careful planning involved: "We have focused on spending the better part of over a year to even think through how to effectively relocate Ranchman's, to make sure that we can really keep the same character to the space." The redevelopment is scheduled to break ground in spring 2027 and will include:

  • Residential buildings above commercial spaces
  • Retailers and a pedestrian-oriented design on the ground level
  • A large open-air plaza
  • A private amenity center with features such as an outdoor pool, fitness facility, co-working spaces, a resident lounge, and golf simulators

Ranchman's will continue to operate from its current location throughout 2026, ensuring a seamless transition for patrons and the community. This move marks a significant chapter in Calgary's entertainment and cultural landscape, preserving the spirit of Ranchman's while embracing new opportunities for growth and development.
