Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are married. The couple tied the knot on Friday evening in a lavish ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City, ending months of intense speculation about their wedding plans.
Wedding Announcement and Details
Giant purple signs appeared on screens outside Madison Square Garden reading 'JusT&T Married!' Swift's publicist Tree Paine confirmed the news to The Washington Post in a statement: 'Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Are Married!'
Swift's younger brother, Austin, served as her 'man of honor,' while Kelce's older brother, Jason, was his best man. The couple had no other attendants. Actor Adam Sandler, who attended Swift's Eras Tour in Los Angeles and co-starred with Kelce in 'Happy Gilmore 2,' officiated the ceremony.
Both Swift and Kelce wore Christian Dior Haute Couture for the ceremony, along with custom Christian Louboutin shoes. Swift wore Cartier jewelry. The wedding looks were designed by Christian Dior's creative director Jonathan Anderson 'in close collaboration with the couple,' Dior said in a statement.
City Lights and Celebrity Guests
As the sky turned dark over New York City, the top of the Empire State Building started twinkling sapphire. The building's X account indicated it was a nod to the nuptials with a post that read, 'Her something blue.'
On Friday afternoon, hundreds of curious onlookers stopped to snap photos and gather at barricades around Madison Square Garden set up for the event, which has been likened to a royal wedding. A steady stream of black SUVs and well-dressed celebrities arrived at a heavily guarded area. Among those spotted: Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Mariska Hargitay, Benson Boone, and Abby Wambach.
A Global Media Sensation
The frenzy surrounding the nuptials reflects the couple's status as a global media sensation. Swift is the pop star with the highest-grossing tour in history, while Kelce is a three-time Super Bowl champion and one of the most popular NFL players. They have been dating for three years.
Swift attended many of Kelce's football games, including two Super Bowls, while Kelce was a frequent presence at Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. Last year, Swift sat for an unprecedented two-hour interview on the Kelce brothers' podcast, 'New Heights,' where they discussed how they met and dealt with public scrutiny. 'This is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager,' Swift said. Kelce added, 'I'm the luckiest man in the world.'
Charitable Donations and Preparations
Though the couple did not confirm the wedding publicly in advance, photographers had been stationed at MSG all week, capturing employees carrying equipment and food boxes. The Associated Press reported that the couple donated millions to charities this week ahead of the event.
