The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has officially confirmed the cause of death for Hollywood director-actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer. The couple, found dead in their Brentwood home, succumbed to "multiple sharp force injuries." The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.
Son Charged with First-Degree Murder
The couple's son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been formally charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths. Authorities allege Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were stabbed to death in their home during the early morning hours of Sunday, December 14, 2025.
Nick was arrested near the University of Southern California several hours after the bodies were discovered. During a brief court appearance on Wednesday, he was shackled and wore a blue anti-suicide smock. His attorney, Alan Jackson, did not enter a plea, and the arraignment was scheduled for January 7, 2026.
Daughter Discovers the Tragedy
The grim discovery was made by the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner. According to reports, Romy informed police that her brother Nick lived with their parents, was considered "dangerous," and should be viewed as a suspect.
