Mormon Wives' Layla Taylor Soft Launches New GF After Coming Out

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Layla Taylor has given fans a first look at her new romance after recently coming out as bisexual. In an Instagram video posted Tuesday, the 25-year-old smiled at the camera before reaching out to hold hands with a woman who stayed out of frame, revealing only a tattooed arm. Taylor kept her new partner's identity private but hinted at her happiness, writing, 'You're glowing recently, thanks I'm dating a woman now.' She added in the caption, 'Chivalry isn't dead it's (with) the lesbians.'

Support from Co-Stars and Fans

Her co-star Jen Affleck showed her support, commenting, 'You look so happy,' according to Page Six. Fans also filled the comments with messages saying Taylor looked like her 'authentic happy self' and that they were happy for her. The Instagram post comes about a week after Taylor publicly came out as bisexual during an appearance on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast.

She revealed she's currently dating a woman after the pair connected when her new partner liked one of Taylor's social media posts, according to Us Weekly. Taylor described the relationship as refreshing because of the emotional support she's receiving. '(Women are) already more emotionally aware about certain things and very patient,' Taylor said. 'I feel like at least who I'm talking to right now, she's just been very understanding and letting me take this at my own pace because it is just still foreign to me and it is so new. (It's the) level of understanding and just being there for me.'

Coming Out Journey and Past Relationships

Taylor also shared that she has known she was attracted to women since she was a child but struggled to talk about it publicly for years, according to People. 'It's just something that I honestly didn't really know how to formally address for a long period of my life,' she said. 'We're only on this earth for however long we are here and I'll be damned if I'm not able to be fully who I am.'

Taylor converted to Mormonism at 16 and was married to Clayton Wessel from 2020 to 2025. They share two sons, Oliver and Maxwell, according to People. After their split, she was linked to Cameron Jolly and later Mason McWhorter. Speaking with Shetty, Taylor said her breakup with McWhorter in February pushed her to focus on herself and explore her sexuality.

'I went through a breakup at the beginning of this year and I feel like for just a long period of my life, was constantly living my life for other people,' she said. 'I think honestly that breakup was like a blessing in disguise because I feel like now I've been fully able to just focus on Layla.' Growing up in a religious Utah household, Taylor said she often felt like she didn't fit in before eventually realizing she was attracted to both men and women, according to E! News.
