LA Olympics Organizer's Email Exchanges with Ghislaine Maxwell Surface in Epstein Files
Recently disclosed government documents related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein have revealed a series of 2003 email exchanges between Casey Wasserman, the prominent chairperson of the Los Angeles Olympics organizing committee, and Epstein's former girlfriend and confidant, Ghislaine Maxwell.
Flirtatious and Suggestive Correspondence
Among the released communications, one email from Wasserman to Maxwell includes a suggestive remark where he states, "I think of you all the time. So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?" Additional email threads discuss topics such as massages, with Maxwell inquiring about weather conditions during an upcoming visit, asking whether it would be "foggy enough so that you can float naked down the beach and no one can see you unless they are close up?" Wasserman's response was brief: "or something like that."
Wasserman's Public Statement of Regret
In a statement released on Saturday, Wasserman addressed the correspondence, expressing deep regret. "I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell," he said, noting that the emails occurred "long before her horrific crimes came to light." He further clarified, "I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them."
Background on Maxwell and Epstein
Ghislaine Maxwell was convicted in 2021 on five counts of sex trafficking and abuse of minors and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence. Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019, just one month after being indicted on federal sex-trafficking charges. The documents containing these emails were released in compliance with a law mandating the disclosure of government files related to Epstein and Maxwell.
Wasserman's Prominent Role in Sports and Entertainment
Casey Wasserman has built a significant reputation as the founder of a major sports and talent agency, representing elite athletes in football, basketball, and baseball, as well as high-profile actors like Adam Sandler and Brad Pitt. More recently, he has gained attention as the leading figure behind the LA28 Olympic effort, where his lobbying was instrumental in securing the 2028 Summer Olympics for Los Angeles. This marks the first Summer Games in the United States since Atlanta in 1996, with Los Angeles having previously hosted in 1984.
Personal Life Developments
In 2021, Wasserman divorced his wife of 20 years, Laura Ziffren Wasserman, adding a personal dimension to his public profile amidst these revelations.
