The panelists on 'The View' asked Vice President JD Vance some hard questions when he was on the show Tuesday, but it was Joy Behar who apparently asked the hardest one when the cameras weren't rolling.
After the episode, Behar appeared on the show's Behind the Table podcast and revealed to executive producer Brian Teta what she had asked the VP during a break in the action.
'I said to him during the break, 'Why did you call him 'America's Hitler?'' Behar explained, but added, 'he didn't have time to answer.'
'Him' in this context is President Donald Trump.
Behar's question was in reference to an infamous comment the vice president made in a private Facebook message to a former Yale Law School roommate in 2016.
'I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler,' Vance wrote.
The comment attracted a lot of attention in 2022 during Vance's campaign to be an Ohio senator, and, of course, resurfaced in 2024 after Trump picked him to be his running mate.
During the post-show chat, Behar also said she suggested to Vance that he run for president because she liked his vibe. She later told Teta she didn't think the vice president was a 'bad guy' and thought he might be 'kinder' as president than Trump.
