Summer Pardi Files for Divorce from Jon Pardi
Country singer Jon Pardi and his wife, Summer Pardi, have separated after nearly six years of marriage. Summer filed for divorce on May 12 in Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. The couple had been having major issues since last year, with a source telling Us Weekly that Summer was "fed up" with the country star.
Joint Announcement on Instagram
The couple shocked fans with a joint statement on Instagram on Friday, announcing their split. "After much thought, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage," they wrote. "Our daughters will always remain our highest priority and we are committed to moving forward with love and respect as coparents." They added: "Thank you for your understanding, support and respect as we navigate these changes as a family."
Jon, 41, and Summer, 37, tied the knot in November 2020 and share daughters Presley, 3, and 23-month-old Sienna.
Separate Statements from Jon and Summer
The Dirt on My Boots singer shared an additional note on his Instagram Stories, telling fans he's taking an online break. "While I navigate this next chapter, I'm going to take some time away from social media to focus on myself and my family," he wrote. "Thanks to you all for the love and support. My team will handle posting for the time being. I'll see you at the shows."
Meanwhile, the influencer shared her own self-care video on Instagram, also on Friday, saying, "Gonna do legs today, so no shoes because I have better balance and just everything is better flat-footed for me for leg day." She added in the post ahead of the Fourth of July: "Gonna kick off this holiday weekend, hope everyone has a wonderful day."
Not Entirely a Surprise
A source told Us Weekly that the couple has been "having major issues since last year." The insider added: "They all but separated right before the holidays (in December) and even unfollowed each other on Instagram," before refollowing one another between then and their split announcement. The source told the outlet that Summer was "fed up" with the country star but attempted to repair their marriage before calling it quits. "They tried to work it out for their kids, but ultimately couldn't, so she filed for divorce."
Divorce Demands
Summer submitted the filing on May 12 in Tennessee, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. She noted their separation date as one day earlier, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the dissolution of their marriage. The influencer also requested that she be the "primary residential parent" if she and Jon cannot reach a parenting plan. "(Summer) would show that she is a fit and proper person to be designated as the primary residential parent of the parties' minor children," the filing read. "The best interests and welfare of the minor children will be served by designating (Summer) as the primary residential parent."
Summer also asked the court for an equitable division of the former couple's assets, in addition to "all of her separate property." She also requested alimony from the Last Night Lonely crooner and that he pay for her "attorney's fees and expert witness fees," alleging that he "has the ability to pay."
Ongoing Tour
Pardi is currently touring shows and festivals in North America, including stops in Calgary on Saturday, Montreal on Aug. 15 and Niagara Falls on Sept. 19 before he wraps up in Las Vegas in December.
