JoJo Siwa Performs After Hospitalization for Burst Ovarian Cyst
JoJo Siwa's Burst Ovarian Cyst Before Mall of America Show

In a dramatic health scare, entertainer JoJo Siwa has revealed she performed a major concert at the Mall of America on Black Friday just hours after a rushed trip to the emergency room for a burst ovarian cyst.

From Excruciating Pain to the Emergency Room

The 22-year-old singer and dancer detailed the frightening ordeal in a TikTok video posted on Saturday. Siwa explained she had been experiencing stomach pain for several days leading up to her scheduled performance. The discomfort intensified whenever she moved.

On the day of the concert, the pain became so severe she struggled to breathe. Attempting to find relief in a bath only worsened her condition. Siwa described reaching a point where she began blacking out and felt nauseous. Unable to even dress herself after the bath, she told her mother to call 911.

"When I said [to call 911], instinctually, [my mom] was like, 'Whoa, something's really wrong,' because I'm a very, very tough girl," Siwa shared in her video account.

A Quick Diagnosis and a Race to the Stage

Paramedics transported her to the hospital, where she received medication that finally eased the agonizing pain. "I started to feel great. I was dancing in the hospital bed," Siwa said, relieved by the treatment's effect.

Medical staff performed an ultrasound, which revealed the source of her suffering: a cyst on one of her ovaries had burst and was bleeding into her abdomen. Doctors informed her that the condition should resolve on its own, though she will require a follow-up examination in a week.

Despite the serious diagnosis, Siwa was determined to fulfill her commitment. She joked about the doctor's advice to "keep it calm," responding, "Right, I'll try to keep it calm in a second. I gotta go do this little shindig quick."

Understanding Ovarian Cysts and a Grateful Recovery

Siwa expressed that knowing the cause of her pain brought significant peace of mind. "It's basically just excruciating pain, but the good news is we know what it is," she stated.

According to medical resources like the Mayo Clinic, most ovarian cysts are harmless and disappear without treatment. However, a rupture can cause internal bleeding and severe pain. "Vigorous activity" is noted as a factor that can increase the risk of a cyst bursting.

The performer praised the speed of her medical care, noting that while paramedics warned of a potential 12-hour ER wait, her team moved swiftly. She was in and out of the hospital in a few hours. Siwa humorously theorized that some staff might have had daughters eager to see her show. "It was incredible. They worked so fast," she said gratefully.
