Jelly Roll Files for Divorce from Bunnie Xo After Decade

Country music star Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife Bunnie Xo, ending their nearly decade-long marriage. The 41-year-old singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, submitted the divorce petition last month in Williamson County, Tennessee, according to a report by TMZ.

A Relationship That Began at a Concert

The now-exes first met more than 10 years ago at one of Jelly Roll's concerts at the Country Saloon in Las Vegas in 2015. They dated for about a year before he proposed on stage in Vegas in 2016. That same night, they secretly wed in a courthouse ceremony without telling friends or family.

In August 2023, the couple renewed their vows at the same chapel where they had originally married.

Last Public Appearance Together

The pair were last seen together publicly at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February, where they posed for photos and shared kisses on the red carpet. During the ceremony, Jelly Roll won Best Contemporary Country Album and became emotional as he thanked Bunnie in his acceptance speech.

“I want to thank my beautiful wife,” he said, according to People. “I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that.”

However, the two were seen more recently in photos and videos on each other's Instagram accounts. In one video shared on May 3, they dressed up for their daughter Bailee Ann's last high school dance. Jelly Roll also posted photos on Instagram of just him and Bunnie smiling, with the caption “Maw & Paw of the Prom Queen.”

Signs of Trouble

In the hours before the divorce filing made headlines, Bunnie shared a series of Instagram Stories. One photo showed her in silky lingerie appearing to pull down a bra strap, with the text: “She’s getting her sparkle back,” as Metric’s Help I’m Alive played in the background. She also shared a screenshot of a text message reading, “Come here, let me show you what love feels like,” accompanied by J. Cole’s Power Trip. Additionally, she reposted a Snoop Dogg Instagram Reel with the text, “You’re embarrassing cut it out,” followed by a monkey dancing.

History of Infidelity

The Need a Favor singer had been open about his affair with his wife. The couple discussed the infidelity and how it affected them individually and together. In October, Jelly Roll called the affair “one of the worst moments of my adulthood.” He elaborated during an appearance on the Human School podcast: “I wish our story would’ve went in the way that it never had an affair, and I’m in way glad it happened, but man, I’m proud of who we are today. I truly am.”

Bunnie wrote about the affair in her 2026 memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, revealing that she learned in 2018 that the singer had been cheating on her for 10 months. “A lot of people… are like, ‘Why didn’t you leave?’ And I’m like, ‘I did leave.’ I did leave him and we were split for about 30 days,” she told People earlier this year. “But I just loved that man so much that I just really, truly believe that he deserved a second chance.”
