Benedict Cumberbatch was involved in a heated exchange with a fellow cyclist in London last Tuesday, an incident that was captured on video by a bystander. The altercation occurred near King's Cross station when a masked man accused the actor of running a red light.
Details of the Incident
The onlooker, speaking to The Sun, reported that Cumberbatch was riding his cargo bike in the bike lane with the other cyclist following behind. In the video, Cumberbatch approaches the man, sparking a 10-minute argument. The man is heard saying, 'You're deluded, you're lying. I was behind you the entire time.' Cumberbatch responds, 'Dude, you verbally abused me,' to which the man sarcastically retorts, 'Oh no, I verbally abused the guy who completely repeatedly broke the law.'
Cumberbatch admits, 'I did it once,' but the man insists, 'And then you went through a zebra crossing, you went through three lights.' The actor quickly denies this, saying, 'No, I did not.'
Witness Account
The witness described the scene as 'pompous road rage' that 'almost felt like it had been staged.' After the man left, Cumberbatch stayed to pose for selfies with two school children who recognized him as Doctor Strange. 'Benedict still managed to charm everyone watching even though he was having a meltdown,' the witness said. 'They went at each other about five times. Everyone was just stood there with jaws dropped.'
The incident has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many commenting on the actor's behavior. Despite the confrontation, Cumberbatch's interaction with the fans was described as lovely and awe-struck.
