Leave it up to Heidi Klum, the Queen of Halloween, to take the 2026 Met Gala dress code theme very, very seriously. This year's fashion fundraiser had a dress code of "Fashion is Art," and the supermodel interpreted it literally, gracing the red carpet looking like a sculpture freed from a slab of marble by artists such as Rafaelle Monti or Giuseppe Sammartino.
Klum attended the 2026 Met Gala celebrating "Costume Art" at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2026, in New York City. She opted to work with her long-time partner in Halloween hijinks, makeup artist Mike Marino, rather than a traditional fashion designer. Marino, owner of Prosthetic Renaissance, has helped Klum with her over-the-top looks for over a decade, according to Vanity Fair. His special effects company worked on films like "Coming 2 America," "The Batman," and "A Different Man."
Klum's statue-like ensemble was a standout on the red carpet, drawing comparisons to classical marble sculptures. The look, which included intricate prosthetics and makeup, was designed to appear as if Klum had stepped out of a museum piece. She accessorized minimally, letting the sculptural illusion take center stage.
The Met Gala, known for its extravagant themes, saw many celebrities interpret "Fashion is Art" in various ways, but Klum's literal approach was among the most talked-about. Her collaboration with Marino further blurred the lines between fashion, art, and special effects, cementing her reputation as a trendsetter in avant-garde style.
