A Martinez is rallying fans to support his former Santa Barbara co-star Marcy Walker, who has been dealing with serious health issues. The 77-year-old actor announced a special two-hour livestream on June 7, priced at $100, to help cover Walker's rising medical costs.
Livestream to aid Marcy Walker
Martinez and Walker, 64, famously played Cruz Castillo and Eden Capwell on the Emmy-winning soap from 1984 to 1991. Their romance made them one of daytime TV's most beloved super couples. In an Instagram post, Martinez clarified the reason for the ticket fee: “We need to raise money to address a real and urgent need. I should have made that clear from the jump, but didn’t, and I offer my apologies.”
He shared a video explaining that Walker has been battling health problems privately. “Marcy has been ill and is working hard to get well,” he said. “In the process, she has come face to face with the financial challenges that so often plague those of us unlucky enough to need medical care in our country.”
All proceeds to health-care costs
Martinez noted they may launch a GoFundMe later, but the livestream offers a personal way for fans to help. The event website states: “This isn’t just a trip down memory lane — it’s a gathering of community, love, and vital support.” It also confirms that “100% of the proceeds will go directly toward helping Marcy cover her rising medical bills and health-care costs.”
The livestream will feature Martinez and Walker chatting with friend Melissa Braverman about their iconic roles. Both actors earned Daytime Emmy wins: Walker for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1989, and Martinez for Outstanding Lead Actor in 1990. Beyond Santa Barbara, Walker was known for playing Liza Colby on All My Children before leaving Hollywood in the mid-2000s and moving to North Carolina.
