Coquitlam Schools Experience Second Consecutive Day of Security Lockdowns
For the second straight day, schools in the Coquitlam area have been forced to implement security protocols in response to alleged threats. On Thursday, Centennial Secondary School and Gleneagle Secondary School were placed under hold-and-secure orders by the Coquitlam RCMP following reports of additional threats targeting educational institutions.
RCMP Presence and Investigation Continues
Police officers remained stationed at both high schools throughout the day as the investigation into the threats continued. This latest incident follows a similar situation on Wednesday when eight schools across Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam received threatening communications, along with Glenayre Elementary School in Port Moody.
The hold-and-secure protocol involves locking exterior doors while allowing normal classroom activities to continue inside. This measure remains in effect until RCMP can thoroughly assess the safety of each school and determine when to lift the security restrictions.

Sergeant Adriana O'Malley of the Coquitlam RCMP addressed community concerns, stating: "We recognize incidents of this nature can be concerning to our community and can have an impact on the sense of safety and security. We want to assure you we are working collaboratively with the school district, as well as the affected schools to address these ongoing incidents."
