Tragic Shooting at Lambton College Claims One Life
Sarnia police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours of Friday morning at Lambton College, resulting in the death of a young man and injuries to two others. The incident has prompted the immediate closure of the campus and cancellation of all academic activities.
Police Respond to Campus Bar Incident
Officers were dispatched to a campus bar shortly before 1 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals with injuries. Among them was a 20-year-old Sarnia resident who was transported to Bluewater Health for emergency treatment.
Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the young man was pronounced deceased, according to an official police news release. The two other victims sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening.
College Community in Shock
Lambton College administration moved quickly to address the situation, announcing the closure of all campus facilities for Friday. This includes the main campus building, fire school, Skilled Trades Training Centre, EarlyON Child and Family Centre, and Community Employment Services.
"This is a shocking and saddening event for our community," the college stated in a Facebook post. "Support resources are available to students through the counselling page on MyLambton."
Ongoing Homicide Investigation
Police have classified the incident as a homicide investigation and confirmed that no suspects were in custody as of early Friday. Authorities indicated they expect to maintain a presence at the scene for an extended period while gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
The shooting occurred during a Student Administrative Council event on the college's main campus. Emergency services responded immediately to the scene, according to college officials.

"The safety of our students, employees, and guests is our highest priority," emphasized the college administration. "We are working closely with the Sarnia Police Service as they investigate."
