Collège Boréal Launches Construction Engineering Program in Timmins

Collège Boréal has officially launched its Construction Engineering Technician — Civil and Mining program at the Timmins campus. The launch event, held in the presence of dignitaries including Gaétan Malette, MP for Kapuskasing—Timmins—Mushkegowuk, and Ashley Richards-Gagnon, President of the Timmins Construction Association and Co-Chair of Women in Trades and Tech Timmins, showcased the facilities and equipment that will be used by the first cohort starting this September.

Program Details

The two-year program trains skilled professionals in construction and mining, combining practical and theoretical learning. Students will learn to supervise and manage engineering projects involving mineral extraction, mine development, and public works infrastructure. The curriculum covers blueprint reading, construction site management, and specialized software, preparing graduates for rewarding careers in key economic sectors.

By adding this program, Collège Boréal in Timmins increases access to relevant training that meets regional employers' demand for skilled workers. It also offers students from local school boards a range of related programs, strengthening the local workforce in French.
