A person has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving following a multi-vehicle collision Thursday night in Scarborough’s east end that resulted in one fatality and left two others in critical condition at a hospital.

Details of the Crash

Toronto Police reported via social media at 10:30 p.m. that officers and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Sheppard Avenue East and Vandorf Street, north of Highway 401. All vehicles remained at the scene, and some injuries were initially described as life-threatening.

Police later clarified that a man in his 40s was pronounced dead at the scene. A 35-year-old woman and another man in his 40s were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. A 49-year-old man was arrested under suspicion of impaired driving. Sheppard Avenue East remains closed at Vandorf Street as the investigation continues.

Stabbing Incident in North York

In a separate incident Thursday evening, two male teenagers were hospitalized after an altercation between two groups of teens in North York. Toronto Police said the victims arrived at a hospital with stab wounds just after 7 p.m. in the Wilson Avenue and Agate Road area, east of Keele Street.

One victim suffered critical injuries, another sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and a third teen was uninjured. Police believe an altercation between two groups of teenage males led to the stabbings. One teen remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Description

Authorities are searching for a light-skinned male suspect approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with curly black hair with brown ends. He was last seen wearing Nike track pants and black New Balance shoes.
