Barrie police have charged a motorcyclist after he was allegedly clocked driving at 169 kilometres per hour in a 60 km/h zone on a major road in the city. The incident occurred on Sunday, May 16, 2026, according to a statement released by the Barrie Police Service.

The motorcyclist, whose identity has not been disclosed, was stopped by officers after they observed the vehicle travelling at a speed that more than doubled the posted limit. Police say the rider was charged with stunt driving and excessive speeding under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

As a result of the charge, the motorcyclist's licence was immediately suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for two weeks. The accused is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
