GO Train Signal Issue Forces Delays at Union Station
A signal issue on the Lakeshore East line is causing delays for commuters traveling to and from Toronto's Union Station on Wednesday morning. Metrolinx, the regional transportation agency, confirmed the problem and warned that it could impact travel times.
In a statement, Metrolinx said the issue is currently under investigation. "We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available," the agency said, advising passengers to check the GO Transit website for service updates.
Commuters are urged to allow extra time for their journeys. The signal problem is affecting trains on the Lakeshore East line, which serves communities east of Toronto.
Meanwhile, track work is underway west and southwest of the city, between Hamilton's Confederation GO Station and Niagara Falls GO Station. Trains traveling through that area are running approximately 15 minutes behind schedule until the work is completed.
This delay comes after a previous incident involving loose track screws that led to a GO train derailment at Union Station. The cost of repairs and refunds from that incident have not yet been disclosed.
