A 34-year-old man has been charged following a fatal crash involving a farm tractor in Mapleton, Ontario, that claimed the life of a local resident. The incident occurred on April 26, 2026, around 5:30 p.m. on Line 86 near Road 9. Police say the tractor collided with a passenger vehicle, killing the driver of the car, identified as 58-year-old Mark Thompson of Mapleton.

Charges Laid

The driver of the farm tractor, whose name has not been released pending court proceedings, faces charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death. He was arrested at the scene and later released on bail with conditions, including a driving prohibition. He is scheduled to appear in court in Guelph on May 15, 2026.
