Calgary International Airport is gearing up for an unprecedented summer travel season, anticipating more than 6.1 million passengers in the coming months. This forecast surpasses last year's record, when the airport welcomed over four million travelers, with July and August each exceeding two million passengers.
Daily Passenger Surge
An average of over 66,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport each day during the summer months. Chris Miles, chief operating officer of Calgary Airports, addressed the public during a Monday morning press conference.
"We truly know that this time of year comes with a mix of excitement and a bit of uncertainty for many travellers," Miles said. "People are thinking more carefully about where they go, how they go and what to expect along the line, but travel remains deeply important, not only for us, but for our community, and we are seeing that reflected in the number of people that we expect to come through the airport this summer."
Traveler Recommendations
Miles urged travelers to "come ready, come early and come explore." He advised domestic passengers to arrive at least two hours before their flight, and international travelers to allow a minimum of three hours. The airport is preparing for a busy season and encourages early arrival to ensure smooth travel.
More details are expected to follow as the summer season progresses.
