Brampton Trucker Charged After Power Lines Downed in Caledon

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a truck driver after power lines and a hydro pole were pulled down in Caledon on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred on Damascus Drive, where the driver allegedly dragged down the infrastructure and then attempted to flee the scene.

According to OPP Central Division, the driver was spotted around 1:10 p.m. on Monday. The Caledon OPP Community Mobilization Unit officers quickly located and arrested the driver a short distance away. The vehicle was grounded after an inspection revealed major defects. Both the driver and the company have been charged.

A 22-year-old truck driver from Brampton is facing charges of careless driving, operating an unsafe commercial vehicle, failing to remain, and failing to report damage. The OPP emphasized the seriousness of the incident, which could have caused significant harm or power outages.

Rideshare Passenger Injured in Kitchener

In a separate incident, Waterloo Regional Police have charged a rideshare driver after a passenger was run over. On Saturday around 10 p.m., a 25-year-old man was entering the rear seat of a rideshare vehicle near King and Columbia Streets. The driver began moving before the passenger was fully inside, causing him to fall and the vehicle to run over his leg.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for a broken ankle. The driver, a 38-year-old Kitchener man, has been charged with careless driving causing bodily harm. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Waterloo Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.

Niagara Man Charged with Indecent Acts

In another case, a 68-year-old man from Lincoln, Ontario, has been charged with two counts of indecent acts by Niagara Regional Police. On Monday, police responded to a call in the area of St. Volodymyr Crescent in Beamsville, where it was reported that on two separate occasions, a male suspect had committed indecent acts and exposed himself in public view from the roadway.

On Tuesday, Colin Cobb, 67, was arrested and charged. Detectives believe there may be additional victims and are asking anyone with information to contact police. Residents and businesses in the area are asked to review surveillance footage and report any sightings of the suspect.

These incidents highlight the importance of road safety and public decency. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
