Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public's help to identify a person of interest in an alleged sexual assault that occurred during the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon on Friday.
Incident Details
Police say officers from the Caledon Detachment were called to the golf course at 19131 Main St. late Friday afternoon, during the second round of the prestigious professional golf tournament, for a report of a sexual assault.
The victim, a worker at the event, told police that at approximately 5:12 p.m., while performing crowd control duties near Hole 5, they were approached by an unknown male who appeared intoxicated and was acting in a disruptive manner. During the interaction, the suspect allegedly made inappropriate physical contact with the victim.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Suspect Description
Investigators have released an image of a person of interest in hopes someone can identify him. The man is described as white, approximately 40 to 45 years old, about 5-foot-11 and 230 pounds, with a heavy, unathletic build, short brown buzz-cut hair, and a brown scruffy beard.
He was last seen wearing a white golf shirt with a grey logo on the front, shorts, sunglasses, and no hat.
Last Known Location
Police say the person of interest was last seen leaving the area of Hole 5 with a group of five to six individuals, heading toward the 13th tee box. The investigation is ongoing.
Police are working with event organizers and reviewing available security video from the area.
