Leviathan Metals Secures Additional Exploration License for Foča Project in Bosnia

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Leviathan Metals Corp. has announced a significant expansion of its mining operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the award of a new exploration license for the Tjemenik area. This development substantially increases the company's footprint in the underexplored Foča district, positioning Leviathan as a first-mover in this promising geological region.

Strategic Expansion of Mining Holdings

The Tjemenik Exploration License, officially granted by the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, covers an area of 50 square kilometers. This addition brings the total area of Leviathan's Foča Project to 150.7 square kilometers, representing a substantial increase in the company's exploration potential. The new license directly adjoins the existing Marevo license area to the south and east, creating a contiguous exploration zone.

What makes this expansion particularly significant is that Tjemenik covers the same geological sequence of faulted Permo-Triassic age rocks that host the recently discovered high-grade polymetallic mineralization along the Vrela-Kremin trend. Geological evidence suggests this mineralized trend continues toward the newly licensed Tjemenik area, along with other similarly oriented fault structures.

Geological Context and Future Prospects

The strategic importance of this expansion becomes clear when examining the geological context. The Tjemenik license area shares the same stratigraphic sequence and structural setting as the neighboring Marevo license, which contains the promising Vrela-Kremin mineralization trend. This geological continuity suggests strong potential for discovering additional mineral resources in the newly acquired area.

Leviathan has also submitted an application for a third exploration license called Podovi, covering an additional 50 square kilometers to the west of the Marevo license. If approved, this would effectively double Leviathan's holdings in the Foča district, creating a comprehensive exploration portfolio across 200.7 square kilometers of highly prospective ground.

Company Leadership Perspective

Luke Norman, Chief Executive Officer of Leviathan Metals, emphasized the strategic importance of this development. "Building on our discovery of high grade polymetallic mineralization at the Vrela-Kremin trend, the grant of Tjemenik is an important step in growing our Foča landholding," Norman stated. "This further cements our first-mover advantage in this highly underexplored district and allows Leviathan to cast a broader net around a key target area."

Norman further explained that Tjemenik represents an organic addition to the company's portfolio, falling within the same favorable geological environment as the existing Marevo license area that hosts the Vrela-Kremin mineralization.

Recent Exploration Results and Significance

The company's recent exploration work at Foča has yielded promising results that underscore the district's potential. Trench sampling has returned robust high-grade polymetallic mineralization in broad widths at surface, including:

  • 14 meters at 7.78% zinc equivalent (ZnEq)
  • 12 meters at 8.92% zinc equivalent (ZnEq)

These intervals demonstrate zinc and lead grades comparable to the historic Yugoslav drilling that initially attracted Leviathan to the Foča district. The mineralization falls within the same 2.6-kilometer Vrela-Kremin trend, as defined by soil geochemistry and detailed geological mapping. These results provide early indications of both the grade potential and the possible footprint of mineralization within the Foča Project area.

Broader Implications for Mining Development

The expansion of Leviathan's exploration licenses in Bosnia and Herzegovina represents more than just corporate growth—it signals increasing interest in the mineral potential of the Balkan region. The Foča Project's location in Republika Srpska, combined with its promising geological characteristics, positions it as a potentially significant polymetallic mining district.

As Leviathan continues to expand its exploration activities across the newly acquired Tjemenik license and potentially the Podovi license, the company is well-positioned to systematically evaluate the mineral potential of this underexplored region. The strategic acquisition of contiguous licenses allows for efficient exploration programs and maximizes the potential for discovering economically viable mineral deposits.

The company's approach of securing first-mover advantage in an underexplored district with demonstrated mineralization represents a calculated strategy in mineral exploration. By systematically expanding their land position around known mineralization, Leviathan is building a comprehensive exploration portfolio that could yield significant discoveries in the coming years.
