The Clubhouse Vintage Store Opens in Historic Saskatoon Avenue Building

Entrepreneurs Taylor Cross and Sam Murphy have expanded their vintage retail presence in downtown Saskatoon with the opening of The Clubhouse by Seven Sundays. The new store occupies a ground-floor corner unit in the historic Avenue Building, marking a strategic diversification of their business that began with their original boutique, Seven Sundays, in 2023.

Seizing a Unique Opportunity

The decision to open The Clubhouse was driven by the appeal of the space itself, which had been vacant for approximately six months. Cross and Murphy recognized the potential immediately, with Cross explaining, "Once we looked at this space we realized that if someone else took it before us we wouldn't forgive ourselves and we'd be kicking ourselves every day after." They were drawn to the location's vintage charm and its prominent corner position, which they felt was too good to pass up.

Expanding Their Vintage Offerings

The Clubhouse represents a deliberate expansion from their original concept. While Seven Sundays focuses on feminine, curated vintage pieces and home goods, The Clubhouse aims to be more inclusive. The new location features:

  • Unisex and male vintage clothing
  • Their own branded merchandise
  • An upcoming vintage reseller market on the second floor
  • Plans for a future cafe on the lower level

Cross describes The Clubhouse as their 'something for everyone' space, with prices ranging from $15 to $300 to appeal to a broader demographic, including high school students, young adults, and parents.

Building a Community Space

The owners emphasize that The Clubhouse is designed to be a collective community-type space. This expansion was partly motivated by the growing male demographic at their original store, which prompted the need for a dedicated location offering more diverse vintage options. Murphy and Cross have preserved the integrity of the historic space, maintaining its vintage character while introducing their clothing collections.

Strategic Location Choice

Despite being just a block and a half away from their original boutique, the new location serves a different niche. Cross notes that the Avenue Building space is "such a notable corner and so vintage and really nostalgic to downtown Saskatoon." They plan to maintain both locations, with Seven Sundays continuing as the "cool older sister" boutique for curated, higher-quality pieces, while The Clubhouse serves as a more accessible, entry-level option.

The opening of The Clubhouse in November 2025 demonstrates the entrepreneurs' commitment to growing their vintage business in Saskatoon's historic downtown core, offering residents and visitors alike a new destination for unique clothing and community engagement.
