RareBuilt Homes Wins Small Volume Builder of Year at BILDCR Awards

RareBuilt Homes, a Calgary-based luxury custom builder and developer, has been named Small Volume Builder of the Year at the 2025 BILD Calgary Region Awards, marking the second time the company has earned this prestigious honour. The award, announced in April, recognizes the builder's commitment to quality, customization, and detail in every home.

Personalized Luxury Defined

For RareBuilt Homes, luxury is not merely about square footage. It is about creating homes that reflect the people who live in them. The company’s approach is described as “white-glove, high-end luxury that makes people excited about the dream that they are building,” says Crystal Benner, director of sales for RareBuilt Homes.

Founded in 2009 by Ray Bojakli, RareBuilt has built its reputation on personalization, craftsmanship, and a willingness to answer almost every homeowner request with a simple word: “Yes.” Benner explains, “Ray’s vision was always to be a generational builder. He wanted to build homes for customers and then one day build homes for their children. The quality, customization and detail that go into our homes really lend themselves to that philosophy.” She calls this the company’s “special sauce.”

Award-Winning Designs

In addition to the Small Volume Builder of the Year award, RareBuilt captured the award for Best Townhome/Villa Over $731,000 for its Cressley design. The builder also earned three additional finalist nods in the same category for the Sydney 729, Sydney 725, and Dalton 203 designs. Furthermore, RareBuilt was a three-time finalist in the category of Best New Multi-family Home Design 1,452 sq. ft. and Over for its Sydney, Sawyer, and Wexford designs. The company also garnered a developer nomination for its exclusive community of Pine Springs at Heritage Pointe.

Mike Lochhead, vice-president of RareBuilt Homes, emphasizes the significance of these awards. “They really reflect the passion, creativity and unwavering commitment of our entire team. This honour is especially meaningful because our work is anything but ordinary. Every project that we take on is entirely unique — no two luxury townhomes or villas are ever the same. Every client is different and every home is customized. We’re incredibly proud of what we continue to achieve together,” he says.

Unique Features in Every Home

Step inside a RareBuilt home and one thing becomes immediately clear: this is not a company interested in one-size-fits-all living. Each home is tailored to the owner’s lifestyle. For instance, a hidden door reveals a media room, an elevator opens directly from the garage, and a climate-controlled wine room sits beside a chef-inspired kitchen outfitted with Sub-Zero appliances. In another home, a private golf simulator offers hours of enjoyment, while a spa-inspired yoga retreat hits the sweet spot of living well.

Whether the project is a 10,000-square-foot custom estate home, a luxury villa, or a sophisticated townhome, Benner says that every home begins with the same question: “We start by asking people how they live and move through their home. We’re like, tell us what’s important to you. Tell us how you spend your time. We want to create homes that are inspirational and that people love to live in.”

Resonating with Buyers

This approach has resonated with buyers seeking more than a beautiful address. They are looking for a lock-and-leave, low-maintenance home, one that allows them to transition through all stages of life. RareBuilt’s commitment to creating homes and communities designed around individual lifestyles has helped the company carve out a distinctive place in Calgary’s luxury market. The company first won Small Volume Builder of the Year in 2022 and now again in 2025, solidifying its reputation for excellence.
