Dubai Gold District Launches as Global Gold Hub

In a significant development for the global precious metals sector, Ithra Dubai has officially inaugurated the Dubai Gold District, positioning it as a comprehensive hub designed to cement Dubai's status as the world's premier destination for gold and jewellery commerce. This purpose-built district represents a strategic advancement in Dubai's evolution as a central nexus for retail, trade, and investment activities on an international scale.

A Unified Destination for the Gold Value Chain

The Dubai Gold District integrates the complete spectrum of the gold and jewellery industry into a single, cohesive location. This consolidation encompasses retail operations, bullion trading, wholesale commerce, and investment services, creating an unparalleled ecosystem for stakeholders across the value chain. By bringing these diverse activities together, the district enhances Dubai's reputation as one of the most trusted and efficient global markets for gold transactions.

Strengthening the UAE's Trading Leadership

The launch underscores the United Arab Emirates' continued dominance in the global trade of gold and precious metals. Recent data highlights the country's substantial export volume, with approximately USD 53.41 billion worth of gold traded in the 2024–25 period. Key trading partners include Switzerland, the United Kingdom, India, Hong Kong, and Turkiye, solidifying the UAE's position as the world's second-largest physical gold trading destination.

Global Appeal and Diverse Audience

As Dubai's designated 'Home of Gold,' the district hosts an impressive array of established global and regional brands, offering exceptional variety, quality, and value to buyers, traders, and investors. What distinguishes the Dubai Gold District is its remarkable diversity of clientele, attracting one of the widest mixes of buyers, traders, and consumers worldwide. In 2025 alone, the district welcomed shoppers from over 147 nationalities, reflecting Dubai's unique role as a truly global marketplace for gold and jewellery.

Innovative Features and Retail Expansion

A landmark attraction within the district will be the world's first Gold Street, a street constructed using gold, designed as a distinctive draw for tourists and visitors. Further details about this innovative feature will be unveiled in phases. The district comprises more than 1,000 retailers across various categories, including gold, jewellery, perfumery, cosmetics, and lifestyle products. Notable jewellery flagships such as Jawhara Jewellery, Malabar Gold and Diamonds, Al Romaizan, and Tanishq Jewellery are already established, with Joyalukkas announcing plans for a 24,000 square foot flagship, set to be its largest in the Middle East.

Supporting Infrastructure and Accessibility

To facilitate international visits, the district is supported by six hotels, providing convenient access for global visitors, buyers, and trade partners. This infrastructure ensures that the Dubai Gold District is not only a commercial hub but also a welcoming destination for business and tourism, further enhancing its appeal as a central node in the global gold trade network.
