Midnight Sun Extends Dumbwa Copper Deposit to Over 5.3 km

Midnight Sun Mining Corp. (TSXV: MMA / OTCQX: MDNGF) has announced significant progress at its wholly owned Dumbwa copper deposit in Solwezi, Zambia. Drilling has now extended the strike length to over 5.3 kilometres, with the deposit remaining open along strike as drilling continues.

Drilling Highlights

Results from recent drillholes include notable intercepts such as 93 metres at 0.40% copper, 80 metres at 0.39% copper, 44 metres at 0.53% copper, and 36 metres at 0.58% copper. These results confirm near-surface copper sulphide mineralisation over a continuous strike length of 5.3 kilometres, with assays received for the first approximately 4 kilometres of drilled strike.

Program Details

The drilling program has surpassed 200 holes for a total of over 42,000 metres. Four rigs are currently focused on expanding the deposit to the north along strike and extending previously drilled mineralisation both east and west. Quality control issues related to laboratory analysis have been resolved, and the backlog of assays is now largely caught up.

Geological Significance

Chief Operating Officer Dr. Kevin Bonel commented: “What began as a geological concept has now been established as a significant discovery, with over 5.3 km of strike now tested and supported by more than 40,000 m of drilling. Our team is rapidly defining what is emerging as an exceptionally large, near-surface, structurally controlled copper sulphide deposit.”

Bonel added that the company is developing a clear understanding of the Dumbwa deposit, noting the hallmark “pinch-and-swell” geometry typical of major structurally controlled systems. He confirmed that Dumbwa is a basement-hosted, strain-related deposit, geologically comparable to Barrick’s Lumwana mine. The company also recognizes a predictable grade distribution along strike, with broader higher-grade zones separated by narrower lower-grade domains.

Future Plans

Midnight Sun plans to host a technical webinar with COO Dr. Kevin Bonel to discuss the results announced in this news release. Details will be included in a separate announcement. The company continues to expand the system with each step north, and mineralisation remains open, alongside a clear plan to unlock additional mineralisation within zones identified through earlier drilling.

Assay results are based on four-acid digest, ICP-OES finish. Intervals listed are based on drilling intervals and are considered relative rather than true widths. A full table of assays, including locations, is available on the company’s website.
