Copper Quest Exploration Inc. (CSE: CQX; OTCQB: IMIMF; FRA: 3MX) has announced the commencement of a 32.4 square kilometer induced polarization (IP) geophysical survey on its wholly owned Stars Property, a porphyry copper-molybdenum project in British Columbia's Stikine region. The property spans 9,693 hectares and is located approximately 60 kilometers north of Imperial Metals Corporation's past-producing Huckleberry Cu-Mo mine, 50 kilometers north-northeast of Surge Copper Corp's advanced Berg copper project, and 30 kilometers north-northwest of Vizsla Copper Corp's Poplar copper-gold project.
Survey Objectives and Significance
This large-scale IP survey marks the first application of this geophysical technique across the entire Stars Property, including the Tana Zone discovery area and its along-strike extensions. Induced polarization is a proven method for detecting sulphide mineralization, which is the copper-bearing material found at Stars, at depth and at distance from known drill holes. By imaging the full 32.4 km² footprint of the magnetic anomaly, the company aims to determine the true scale of the mineralized system in terms of strike length, width, and depth, and to identify potential new drill targets beyond the current Tana Zone.
Property Highlights
The Stars Property is a road-accessible, 9,693-hectare asset located in the Bulkley Porphyry Belt, a top-tier exploration and mining district. Key features include:
- A 230 by 180 meter domain known as the Tana Zone, consisting of chalcopyrite-molybdenite-bornite quartz stockwork intersected from surface to over 350 meters depth. The zone remains open in two directions and to depth.
- Notable drill intersections: 0.466% Cu over 195.07 meters in hole DD18SS004 from 23.47 meters; 0.200% Cu over 396.67 meters in hole DD18SS010 from 29.37 meters; 0.205% Cu over 207.27 meters in hole DD18SS015 from 163.98 meters.
- A highly prospective annular magnetic anomaly approximately 5 by 2.5 kilometers, interpreted as an altered monzonite intrusion and surrounding hornfels.
- Numerous underexplored soil and IP geophysical targets within the larger magnetic anomaly.
Management Commentary
Brian Thurston, President and CEO of Copper Quest, stated: "Copper Quest controls 9,693 hectares covering the Stars Property and prospective surrounding area with two complementary exploration upsides: an established zone of higher-grade mineralization that the company can grow and define, and a much broader under-explored area with high potential for new discovery. This very large geophysical program, combined with the historic 9,016 meters of drilling, will help guide exploration to provide the best information to make new discoveries in this very large anomaly that has a footprint five times that of the Huckleberry Mine. Combined with the contiguous 5,389-hectare Stellar Property, Copper Quest has assembled a dominant land position and created a unique opportunity that unlocks a district-scale copper porphyry project in the Bulkley Porphyry Belt."
Thurston added: "Given the global movement towards AI, electrification, environmental concerns, infrastructure development, and the forecasted demand for copper, the combined properties make a very compelling exploration package."
