Lethbridge Man Wins $100K, Plans to Buy Puppy

Shaimus Tolman of Lethbridge is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win and has big plans for his prize money. The lucky winner matched all numbers on the March 14 Western 649 and Extra draw, according to the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

Tolman, who purchased his ticket at a local convenience store, said he was shocked when he discovered his win. He plans to use the money to buy a puppy, something he has wanted for a long time. He also intends to save a portion of the winnings and perhaps take a small vacation.

“I’ve always wanted a dog, and now I can finally get one,” Tolman said in a statement. “This win is life-changing.”

The Western 649 draw offers a guaranteed $1 million jackpot, with additional prizes available through the Extra feature. Tolman’s $100,000 prize came from matching the winning numbers on the Extra portion of his ticket.

Lottery officials remind players to check their tickets carefully and to sign the back of winning tickets immediately. Prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw date.
