Two tow truck operators face multiple charges after allegedly barreling through an active collision scene in Mississauga, narrowly missing a police officer and bystanders before fleeing the area. The incident, which occurred on Dec. 18, 2025, was captured on video and released by Peel Regional Police this week.
Chaos at Intersection
Police were responding to a collision at Mavis Road and Queensway West around 10:40 p.m. when two tow trucks, believed to be racing to secure a tow, lost control and crashed through the scene. Video footage shows officers lunging out of the way as the trucks sped across a grass boulevard and plowed into the crash site.
"We've all seen tow trucks driving like fools, but this was next level," said Const. Tyler Bell in the video. One truck nearly struck an officer and a bystander, while the other hit a car involved in the initial crash. Instead of stopping, both drivers fled the scene.
Investigation and Charges
Police canvassed the area for witnesses and obtained CCTV footage showing both trucks being driven recklessly at high speeds in residential areas, running stop signs and traffic lights. The drivers demonstrated a "complete disregard for public safety," police said. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
After a thorough investigation, suspects Bilal Nofal and Abdulaziz Omar, both 30 years old from Mississauga, were arrested. Each faces charges including dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, flight from a peace officer, disobeying a stop sign, stunt driving, and multiple tow-truck-specific violations.
Professionalism Reminder
Const. Bell emphasized that the incident does not reflect the many professional tow truck operators who perform a thankless and dangerous job correctly. The case highlights ongoing concerns about aggressive behavior among some tow truck drivers in the region.
