Ontario Provincial Police say a driver was clocked traveling at more than twice the posted speed limit in Brant County. The incident occurred on May 19, 2026, on a local road where the speed limit is 80 km/h. The driver was allegedly traveling at 172 km/h.
Details of the Incident
Police stopped the vehicle and charged the driver with stunt driving and excessive speed. The driver's license was suspended for 30 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

"Speeding at such extreme rates endangers everyone on the road," said OPP Constable John Smith. "We urge drivers to obey speed limits and drive responsibly."
The OPP continues to enforce traffic laws and reminds the public that stunt driving carries severe penalties, including fines up to $10,000, license suspension, and possible jail time.
